2017 Convention Report
"And I am convinced and sure of this very thing, that He who began a good work in you will continue until the day of Jesus Christ, developing and perfecting and bringing it to full completion in you." Philippians 1:6
Spring is in the air! Praise Him for the beautiful region we live in!
Last month I posted a question on our regional Facebook page (CLB Eastern Region Women) "How are things going specifically to women's ministry in your church"....I didn't get many responses BUT the one I did get was so inspiring I will share a snippet. After not having a women's ministry group for years - last December a few faithful ladies started monthly meetings and a weekly bible study. WOW that is awesome! God is working among us ladies.
In early April, Hillside LB church hosted a women's event. The Priscilla Shirer simulcast was well attended by women from around the region. We enjoyed a day of worship, studying/learning God's word (2 Kings 5:1-14), and fellowship. We enjoyed a lot of good food and lunch was served by some of the elders of the church. Thanks to all who put in the work to make it such a successful day! It was a day full of opportunities to connect with other ladies from the ER.
Save the date: Casey Baardson will be our speaker for the 11/3-5/2017 WM Retreat. The theme for the weekend is "Unfolding". "The unfolding of Your words give light; it gives understanding to the simple." (Psalm 119:130) Make your reservations soon - we would love to see you!
In closing, I want to thank the ER team for their dedication to this ministry. Their friendship and support have been a blessing to me.
2016 Convention Report
“Remain in me, and I will remain in you. For a branch cannot produce fruit if it is severed from the vine, and you cannot be fruitful unless you remain in me. Yes, I am the vine; you are the branches. Those who remain in me, and I in them, will produce much fruit. For apart from me you can do nothing.” John 15:4-5
It’s exciting to be “part of the vine!” It’s exciting to be part of the body of Christ. We are not meant to serve alone. I am so thankful that we “20 churches” come together to serve Him!
Last year was a year of transition but I can thankfully say that this year our board is full! AMEN! The
nominating committee worked very hard to fill the void. I’m so grateful to each one that served!
January was exciting because the Eastern Region (Cape Coral LBC) hosted the national team meeting! What a privilege to go to Florida in January! The snow was falling back home (PA) while the sun was shining in FL! Our team was truly pampered by the Cape Coral church family from the meals, snacks, meeting room, and especially the beautiful accommodations at the host homes. Good times!
The national fundraiser for Cup of Blessing ran during February. It was wonderful to see from Facebook what the local churches were displaying to promote our Cup of Blessing month! Facebook has been a great tool to advertise and/or announce what our Region is up to, so I invite you to please “like” our page: CLB Eastern Region Women.
April 15-17 was our annual Pastors’ Wives Retreat! Thirteen beautiful women came and had a wonderful time of fellowship and spiritual refreshment. The Manor House (part of the Pines @ Tuscarora Inn and Conference Center) offered a quiet place to truly “get away.” Sue Amerman spoke on Saturday on the topic of “Learning to stand in the hard places – The changing roles of the pastor’s wife in a post-Christian era” Thanks to all that helped with making this event possible (Hillside Church and Mount Bethel Church).
Looking ahead to our November 4-6, 2016 ERCLB retreat. WM is excited to have Ellie LoFaro speak truth to us! Our theme this year is “More of you, Lord; Less of me.” May that continue to be our prayer as we serve together!
Eastern Region CLB Women's Ministry Report Q4-2015
Jeremiah 17:7-8 “But blessed are those who trust in the LORD and have made the LORD their hope and confidence. They are like trees planted along a riverbank, with roots that reach deep into the water. Such trees are not bothered by the heat or worried by long months of drought. Their leaves stay green, and they never stop producing fruit.”
We praise God for a wonderful retreat this year. We have prayed expectantly for the past year to bring the women He wants to minister to AND as usual God has risen to the occasion once again! The weather was spectacular along with the beautiful scenery of God’s creation all around. Sue Duffield was used as His instrument for healing and renewing for our spirits. Saturday night she offered an alter call and lives were changed – Praise God! Her message was from Mark 10:45 “For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve others and to give his life as a ransom for many.” She challenged us to come alongside others and be Christ to them (to share His love with them). We laughed a lot too!
It was awesome to see how God used the “body” of Christ to be glorified during the course of the weekend. I have just a couple stories – 1. Unfortunately our “prayer room” leader was not able to come at the last minute because she had a death in the family. 8 AM Saturday morning and we had about 20 women in our prayer room. I was not certain how to lead in “corporate” prayer. A lady next to me nudged me to begin this time of prayer….well the minute I opened my mouth the tears started a flowin and I could barely get the words out to pray. All I could do was tap the lady next to me on her knee and ask her to lead. LEAD she did! The half hour of prayer was so precious – God was so present and it was such a beautiful time together. At supper that night a pastor’s wife came alongside me and said “I know you had a hard time in the prayer room this morning, Can I lead tomorrow’s time?” OH WELL YES, of course! Sunday morning came and my friend (the pastor’s wife) beautifully led the prayer time. I am sooooo very thankful for the “body of Christ.” These sisters are a joy to serve next to. 2. This year the fund raiser for our missionary families was going to be an Art for Good sale. These items were going to be priced and sold. A couple days before the retreat I got a call from a pastor’s wife who offered to help in any way – her expertise was “silent auctions” (which I have voiced to the team that I really dislike them.) She talked with me about doing a silent auction instead and her friends from church would handle everything. Well that conversation was God appointed – because we raised over $1500! The body of Christ is a beautiful thing!!!!
Saturday, Nov 7 Pastor Erick Sorenson shared with us the inspiring message of bringing Christ to ALL the nations – even to Manhattan USA! He asked for us to partner with them in prayer as they plant Epiphany LB church. How exciting to hear his passion to share the gospel in the urban setting of NYC!
Our business meeting went very well too! Thanks to Michelle and Sandy who have served on our board as Treasurer and Secretary respectfully. They both have been faithful to His service and will be missed. We are grateful to our new Secretary (2 year term): Alice Irazarry and our new Treasurer (1 year term) : Lindsay Natale. I was elected President (2 year term) so that left the Vice President’s (1 year term) seat empty. The nominating committee is working on filling that position. Janet Spencer presented a forum to delegate duties in a few ways: to appoint a church contact person or share the responsibilities between VP and Secretary. Also to appoint a “Retreat Committee” – so far we had one person sign up. God is faithful! I want to thank Janet for coming alongside me and mentoring me this year - I was so “green” and now I think I am a shade of “yellow” – still a work in progress. HAHA Her insight and gentle spirit has been vital in helping me lead this ministry.
On a side note we promoted a “skip just one” card as a way to raise funds for our region this year. We will see how this works, but with our increased expenses this year – we hope this will be a creative way to bring some needed funds to our region.
All the glory is His! He is faithful and Lord of All!
