Reflections on Tomorrow
by Ruth Vallevik
Director of Women's Ministries WMCLB
My phone has been singing today. "The tumor is benign and easily removed!" "He got the job he's been trying so hard to find!"
So often - like today when I've just received news of two loved ones for whom I've prayed - I say, "Lord, thank you for answered prayer!"
Really what I'm saying is, "I got what I wanted. Thank You!" A much more spiritually-mature faith would say, "I got what You wanted, thank You!"
Jesus is my Lord and His ways are far above mine. His view is from all time and for all time. He has promised that "no good thing will He withhold from those who walk uprightly," (Ps. 84:11) and, "We know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose." My ultimate desire is that His will be done, and I will purpose to trust Him even if my definition of "good" is not the same as my Lord's. He has also promised that His grace is enough for me, and that I may cast my burden on Him and He will hold me steady. (Psalm 55:22)
So, whatever tomorrow may bring in mournful news, devastating medical test results, overwhelming bills, disappointments in people and things, or frightening world events, I am His. He is mine. His will be done.
We continue to add to our website by including some of our past devotionals - this month: one by Rachel Patterson from 2007
