FOCUS PROJECT for 2011-12: Pastors' Wives

In addition to our continuing projects for 2011-2012 (see posters below) we want to focus on the appreciation and care of our local pastors' wives this year! Our goal:
  • A Pastors' Wives Retreat in 5 Regions
  • A monthly suggestion for each of us to practically care for our own pastor's wife.

HINTS to care for your pastor's wife:

May Hint:  As your "Spiritual Mother," or part of your church's "Family," invite her and your pastor to join you in your Mother's Day celebration!
April Hint:  Send your pastor's wife an Easter card and share a verse of encouragement
March Hint:  Pray for your pastor's wife as she attends the Pastors' Wives Retreat
January & February:  Encourage your pastor's wife to go to your Region's Pastors' Wives Retreat! Help her clear her calendar to make it work!
December: Give a practical gift during this Christmas season - a gift card, an offer of child care, a home-cooked meal
November:  Take your pastor's wife out for coffee, or bring her her favorite beverage.
October: Take an interest in, and pray for the children & grandchildren of your pastor's wife.
September: Set aside a few dollars to give your pastor’s wife for gas or child care to help her attend the Pastors’ Wives Retreat in your Region.
August : Write your pastor's wife a note to tell her how she has positively impacted your life!
July: PRAY for your own local Pastor's Wife EVERY DAY this month! Tell her you're praying for her!

2011-12 Projects

The Garden of my Heart
May 2012 Devotional
by Rachel Christenson (age 16)
daughter of past Eastern Region President, Ruth Christenson

     “Sing about a fruitful vineyard. I, the Lord, watch over it;
I water it continually. I guard it day and night so that no one may harm it.”  (Isaiah 27:2,3)
The fruitful vineyard, in this passage, represents God's people, but God showed me that he was also speaking about the garden of my heart.
I was so excited to realize how intimately God cared for my heart.
The Lord himself waters, cares for, and attends to the garden of my heart so that it will yield good fruit. The Lord himself watches over me and guards my heart from harm.
I was so humbled at the condition of my heart, and ashamed of the weeds that grow there. They grow wild and unchecked, but I am afraid to let the Lord remove them, because it will be painful and difficult. Their roots go so deep that I don't have the strength to pull them up.
But I am learning that, if I ask him, God is strong enough to not only remove them, but to prevent them from growing back! And once he pulls up those weeds, there is room for the roots of faith to take hold and grow deeply.
I am learning that nothing should grow more deeply than faith in the garden of my heart. The Lord himself has restored my heart! How can I keep from singing?
