2018 Convention Report
The annual fundraiser for National Women’s Ministries takes place in February every year. This year a mailing went out to the Churches emphasizing the National Projects and needs. For the month of February, the churches put out the “Cup of Blessings” and a bulletin insert was provided encouraging congregational participation.
The ladies in many of the churches in the PRS are very involved in special programs such as Bible studies and women’s night out. I am encouraged as well, as Immanuel Lutheran Church in Pasadena has seen growth in our monthly meetings. We are studying I and II Thessalonians with Beth Moore. The group is comprised of both the women who attend church and those that don’t. Great discussions have led to greater understanding of the human condition and what God has planned for our lives.
The annual Ladies’ Retreat for the Pacific Region took place in Murrieta, CA on April 6th through the 8th. Our theme was from Hebrews 13:8 “Jesus is the Same Yesterday, Today, and Forever.” Ruth Vallevik was the keynote speaker on Saturday and Sunday. She challenged us with the Word of God. Only the world or your situation may change but we can claim and rest on God’s Word that he is the Same! We also had the privilege of having the ‘Moline’ sisters from MN lead us is great time of praise and worship. They opened the retreat dressed in “yester-year” clothes, having brought with them many of the old hymns of faith. Never more apparent was the truth in the music singing of the Wonderful Savior that we serve. Another highlight of the weekend was a well-planned ‘prayer walk’ that took us out in the center to various stations in which we focused our prayers. So many women responded to the visual imagery that was provided for a very personal experience to see ourselves in comparison to what we trust God with in our lives and how much more he wants to give us!
Our retreat is often when we can best rally for our National Women’s Ministries. Our sales and offering during the weekend is given to the WMCLB.
We are thankful for God’s provision to our region.
