"The Pastor's Wife Shower" by Lou Larish

December 2007

The “Pastor’s Wife” Shower

It was a rainy summer evening when the women of Bethel Mission gathered to shower our love on Sharol Wik, our pastor’s wife. Pastor Ron and Sharol Wik have served Bethel Church in Faribault, Minnesota for twenty years.

The program was patterned after a bridal or baby shower with games, prizes and fun. We conducted an interview with each one asking questions from a pre-arranged list of questions. Sharol answered questions like, “How did your husband propose?” “Where would you shop if money was not an issue?” and “What would your dream home be like?”

The evening concluded with each woman writing a personal ending for the sentence “I appreciate Sharol because ______.” Then these were gathered and read to her. A delicious lunch was served and we went home realizing what a gem we have in Sharol, who participates in all the activities at Bethel, especially with the music. She is choir director, vocalist, organist, pianist and keyboard player.

We thank God for her years here and trust Him for continued fellowship with Sharol. God bless her! – Lou Larish (Faribault, MN)
