Chloe's program ideas Program Ideas and Hints
Monthly, quarterly, semi-annual or annual, - what has your group decided? Fun and fellowship, outreach, personal growth, - whatever the reason you can be sure that ideas will abound. Some groups meet monthly and vary their program. Some meet quarterly and stress outreach. An annual meeting could be a retreat – a wonderful time for personal growth and renewal. One thing should be constant, no matter how often you meet – don’t forget to pray. Nothing is accomplished without much prayer. Jesus said, “apart from me you can do nothing.” (John 15:5b NIV) Listed below are some ideas that might help or even prompt some more program ideas.
ncourage your women to share their testimonies, reading skills, musical talents, acting abilities. A good skit can be a lot of fun. Involve some new women. Who knows? You might discover a real thespian!
ave a craft night. Women and teen girls could choose from a variety of crafts (book bags, flavored teas, table runners, Christmas ornaments, etc.) This could be done in a workshop format, individual sessions, or come and do your own project. It could be held on two nights to involve more women and teens.
alad luncheon with a style show (bridal, “thru the decades” or humorous).
ummer potluck on someone’s patio or at the park. Try some lawn games or just some fellowship and fun. No program necessary.
rayer breakfast – can be a wonderful renewal time and a very meaningful annual or semi-annual event.
sk everyone to bring a baby picture of themselves covered with a sheet of paper. Have someone mix them up. Number them and try to guess who’s who.
ry an old fashioned Ice Cream Social. Furnish the ice cream and have the women bring their favorite topping.
ow about an indoor picnic during the winter? It can be a lot of fun. Decorate as if it was summer!
amper your women with a “Spa Night.” Set up a variety of “pamper” areas – hair cuts, manicures, pedicures or even a massage! You’ll be surprised to find what talent is in your group! Guests can chose two services.
ecorate seasonal baskets and deliver them to shut-ins, hospitals or nursing homes. Fill with a small devotional, something that smells good and something that tastes good. A treat for mind, body and spirit!
isit a local nursing home. Plan a short devotional and then visit with the residents. Offer to write a letter or read to them. They always enjoy it when they can be pampered a little, too!
uilting or sewing groups are very popular. What a great way to invite friends that might not know the Lord. This is a good “non-threatening” type of outreach. |
